Apart from these courses IGNOU also used to offer Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Cardiology(PGDCC) which was a regular course and has now been wound up after it received a backlash from cardiologists and a judgement from Delhi High Court. This is what Indian College of Cardiology president V.V. Radhakrishnan said about the course "PGDCC had been started at a time when there was an acute shortage of cardiologists. The course was intended to help doctors in rural areas identify basic cardiac issues in order to refer patients to cardiologists. But many big corporate hospitals began looking at this course as a source of cheap labour and were appointing those with the qualification as cardiologists in their emergency wings — which has now gone out of hand"
