NEET PG will have no negative marking. It will be conducted online on a software that looks exactly like PrepLadder exam software.
NEET PG is mandatory for all states and medical colleges. Even private colleges will fill their seats through NEET merit list.
Management seats and NRI seats will also fall under NEET.
Do not waste your time thinking that you will escape this exam. Start preparing for it, since the competition will be huge.
Following institutes do not fall under the scope of NEET and will continue conducting their own exam:
1. AIIMS, Delhi
2. PGI, Chandigarh
3. JIPMER, Pondicherry
4. NIMHANS, Bangalore
5. Sri Chitra Institute, Trivandrum
DNB CET exam will be replaced by NEET PG this year and all DNB admissions will be done through NEET.
However, other DNB exams like DNB PDCET and DNB SS will continue as usual.

The number of Management seats will remain unchanged according to the current regulation governing admission to UG/PG seats.
However, management seats will be allotted based on NEET scores and somebody who has not cleared NEET PG cut off will not be eligible for it.
The All India Pool for UG is 15% of the Seats under Central/State Government Institutions and 50% for the PG seats. Rest 50% seats will be filled by state counseling using NEET scores.
The following will fall under the ambit of NEET PG:
Scope of NEET PG 2017 |
All India 50% quota seats for MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses |
(All States with Exemption of Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana)State Quota Seats for MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses - All States & UTs
(Including States such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Jammu & Kashmir)MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses at all Private Medical Colleges, Institutions & Deemed Universities across the countryArmed Forces Medical Services Institutions - MD/MS/PG Diploma CoursesDNB Broad Speciality Courses (January 2017 Admission Session)
Though the government has started working to make this possible but this is still just a proposal right now. It’s highly unlikely that it will be implemented this year.
NEET SS 2017 will be organized in May-June 2017.
Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & Jammu and Kashmir have been bestowed a special status wherein these states do not contribute their Medical PG Seats to the All India 50% pool and as a result, Medical Graduates from these states cannot participate in the All India Quota.
However, admissions in these states will be done through NEET scores only.
This is also a proposal by government and will not likely be implemented this year. We have to wait for more details on this.
The level of competition will increase. NEET PG is expected to be taken by more than 1.1 lakh candidates while AIPGMEE was taken only by 70,000 candidates.
Having said that, your chances of getting a PG seat through merit will increase since many seats will be saved that were otherwise sold by private colleges.
