In this exclusive interview with PrepLadder, he shares his preparation plan that worked best for him to help score well in FMGE.

Hello, please tell us something about yourself.

I am Dr. Kishan Kansara, I graduated from Crimean Federal University and I have cleared the FMGE exam with a score of 209.

What do you think is the correct approach to study for FMGE? Only MCQ's or Theory+MCQ's?

Theory+mcqs

When should the preparation ideally be started?

The preparation should be started at least 5 months before the exam.

Please list the books you studied for each subject.

I studied from PrepLadder’s Rapid Revision notes and an MCQ question bank for short subjects and Reference books for images.

Have you attempted FMGE previously? If yes, what did you do different this year that lead to your success

No, this was my first attempt.

How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for FMGE and how much time should be dedicated for it?

You need at least 3 revisions to clear the FMGE exam. The first reading should be done within 3 months, 20-25 days for the second and third revisions in 15-17 days. Make sure to practice MCQs along with the first reading and revision. Focus on the main 10 subjects in the last week.

Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how?

Yes, PrepLadder helped me a lot especially in the rapid revision of short subjects which enabled me to go through all subjects in less time. Moreover, the PrepLadder question bank is up to date and it helped me in my exam preparation.

List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you.

I have divided my subjects into 3 groups:

Basics: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology (must do)

Scoring subjects: PSM, OBG, Surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, FSM(must do you can score more than 80% in these subjects)

Short subjects: Dermatology, Orthopedics, Anesthesia, Radiology, Psychiatry( rapid revision is more than enough for these subjects), and Medicine will be automatically

covered (around 50%)

Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track? If yes, how?

Not exactly! But I was consistent in studying daily without wasting even a single day

Were you a topper or a mediocre student during graduation?

No, I received a mediocre average score in around 65-70% of my University exams

One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for FMGE

Give mock tests regularly and try to find your silly mistakes and work on them.
