Let’s begin!
New study finds strong association between low vitamin K levels and compromised lung health, highlighting a potential avenue for respiratory care.
According to the research, people with low levels of vitamin K are more likely to suffer from asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and wheezing.
These new findings will not alter the current research on intake of vitamin K but do provide support to research further about the link between vitamin K and lung health.
Cutting-edge devices developed by IIT and ICMR replicate human placenta offering a new way to understand prenancy-related complications.
These innovative devices are the result of a collaboration between IIT-Bombay and the Indian Council of Medical Resarch’s National Institute for Research in Reproductive and Child Health.
Studying the human placenta has its challenges because it is a temporary organ developing only during pregnancy. These devices might provide a possible solution to that.

The new NMC rule mandates doctors to prescribe generics, penalizing non-compliance, in a bid to promote affordable healthcare and quality medication access.
Even though doctors currently are required to prescribe generic drugs, there are no penal provisions mentioned in the 2002 regulations put forth by the Indian Medical Council.
Generic medicines are 30 to 80 per cent cheaper than branded drugs. Therefore prescribing generic medicines might bring overtly bring down healthcare costs and increase access to quality healthcare.
National Medical Commission prioritizes doctors’ safety in the new regulation. Doctors can refuse treatment to aggressive patients or their relatives.
While this regulation is aimed at reducing violence towards doctors, medical professionals, in refusing service, must ensure that the patients are not abandoned.
The Professional Conduct Regulations by the National Medical Council also mentions that doctors are prohibited from endorsing any drug brand, medicine, equipment or advertising them.
And that sums up all the essential medical news for today!
